Monitoring of employees in educational enterprises and institutions

One of the most common areas of human activity is work in the education sector. Currently, over 8 million people are employed in educational institutions, surpassing many sectors of the economy.

The threats most commonly faced by managers include:

  • Leakage of methodological information - paid courses, additional materials, training records, etc.
  • Leakage of valuable scientific data, research results.
  • Dishonest performance of duties by teachers - collusion, bribery and forgery.
  • Theft of personal data of students and teachers.
  • Low employee productivity.

The DLP system OctoWatch is well-suited for educational enterprises:

  • The system monitors activity and records all actions performed by teachers on the computer.
  • The system tracks changes to files, copy and delete operations.
  • OctoWatch controls external storage devices and file uploads to file storage.
  • The rules system performs automatic actions upon detection of suspicious user behavior (for example, you can set up to block the computer if text found in the copied document matches one of the test questions).

Implementation History: Educational Institution

We received a request from the head of the methodological department of the educational institution. The goal was to determine the actual activity and productivity of the methodologist of the educational institution, whose responsibilities include writing programs for teachers.

This request came against the backdrop of constant deadline failures, which were also accompanied by the use of the institution's phone for personal purposes. In particular, the methodologist reported it as an additional communication channel to credit and financial institutions, and after some time, calls began to come in from collectors demanding to influence the repayment of credit debts.

The installed software OctoWatch made it possible to determine the loss of working time of the methodologist. In particular, the methodologist regularly used the computer to write academic works (essays, term papers, thesis), which is not part of the current responsibilities of the specialist. Regular use of office equipment (printer) for non-targeted purposes was also noted: the methodologist printed student and academic exam tickets for subsequent resale. Monitoring was conducted using the "keyboard spy" modules and automatic screen photographing.
