What is employee monitoring software?
Employee monitoring software records selected activity on company computers—apps, websites, active and idle time, screens, files, messages, and policy events—so operations, IT, and security can review work and investigate incidents. What you collect should match company policy and local law. Read the full guide →
What is OctoWatch?
OctoWatch is employee monitoring and DLP software for Windows. A Grabber on each PC records the channels enabled in a Settings Profile and sends that data to a single Web Console. Choose Cloud for a hosted service, or On-Premise to run the Your Server and Microsoft SQL database on your network. With Rules and Computer Profile filtering, you can flag Risks or block risky actions. It is built for Windows PCs and RDS—not Mac or Linux, and not a simple time tracker. User Guide
More than time tracking

How OctoWatch works
A Cloud trial takes three steps. On-Premise adds Server and database setup before you deploy Grabbers.
1
Account
Create an account and open the Cloud Web Console.
2
Grabber
Install the Windows Grabber manually, by GPO, or with your usual deployment tools.
3
Web Console
Confirm users, assign profiles, review activity, and work through Risks.

Cloud
Install the Grabber only
Install the Grabber and use the hosted Web Console at app.octowatchdlp.com. We run the service and storage for you.
On-Premise
Your Server and Microsoft SQL
Run the OctoWatch Server, database, and Web Console on your network so collected data stays with you, then deploy Grabbers to endpoints.
Security and access control
- Encrypted transfer for Cloud and On-Premise Grabbers.
- Role-based Web Console access so operators only see what they need.
- Settings Profiles decide which monitoring channels are on.
- Optional monitoring warnings and work-hours limits to match your policy.

Frequently asked questions
What is employee monitoring software?
Employee monitoring software records selected workplace activity on company computers for authorized operations, IT, security, or compliance teams. Learn about employee monitoring.
How does OctoWatch work?
A Grabber records the channels enabled in the Settings Profile and sends that data to the Cloud or On-Premise Web Console. See the setup path.
What can OctoWatch monitor?
Depending on the Settings Profile, OctoWatch can record activity, apps, websites, screens, video, keystrokes, files, email and IM, clipboard, prints, webcam, microphone, and network data.
Does OctoWatch include DLP?
Yes. Rules can notify you, open Risks, or block websites, files, and USB actions when Computer Profile filtering is turned on. Explore DLP.
Cloud or On-Premise?
Cloud pairs the Grabber with a hosted Web Console. On-Premise adds your Server and Microsoft SQL database so data stays on your network. Compare the On-Premise path.
Which operating systems are supported?
OctoWatch monitors Windows workstations and Windows Terminal Server / RDS sessions. It does not support Mac or Linux.
Can monitoring be transparent?
Yes. Monitoring runs in stealth by default. In the Settings Profile you can show a monitoring warning or let users turn monitoring on and off. Review both modes.
How do OctoWatch licenses work?
Floating licenses count active tracked users, not computers. Blocked users do not use a license, and Web Console operators are unlimited. Open the calculator.
Time Tracking or Employee Monitoring?
Time Tracking focuses on attendance and productivity. Employee Monitoring adds deeper capture and DLP. Both are available in Cloud and On-Premise. Compare plans.
Is employee monitoring legal?
Many employers monitor company-owned devices for legitimate business reasons when policy and local law allow it. Tell employees what you monitor and document your basis—this is not legal advice. GDPR guidance.
